11. We have considered the application of

Mr. T. Hynes, Superintendant of Mails, for a persona 1

allowance under paragraph 13 of the Salaries Report.

Mr. Hynes salary, reached on the 1st of January, 1930, is equal to the maximum of Class I. of the Senior Clerical & Accounting Staff and in view of the Post

Master General's report of the 2nd August, 1929, on

this officer we are unable to recommend him for any

special treatment. Two other officers working in this department are dealt with in paragraph 5 of this

Report.

SECTION 12.

Imports and Exports Department.

12. Senior Revenue Officer. In the case of

Mr. W.J, Buller

recently appointed from home as

Senior Revenue Officer on the old scale of the post:

we recommend that he be offered the revised minimum

of the post i.e. £575 per annum.

13.

Europear Revenue Officers. The claims of

the 2nd Class European Revenue Officers to a through scale of salary to the maximum of 1st Class are mentioned in paragraph 73 below and are receiving

our further consideration.

14. The Chinese Staff of the Opium Factory has

appealed for an increase of alaries, but as the

Salaries Commission has found that their existing scales are adequate we cannot support any revision.
